How do I get certified to do eyelash extensions in Illinois?

In the state of Illinois, there are steps to take to be a legitimate lash artist/lash tech.

Read below to find out what you need to do in order to start your lash artist journey.


  1. ENROLL IN ESTHETIC SCHOOL: Esthetician licensure in the state of Illinois is regulated by the Illinois Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Hair Braiding, and Nail Technology Board. To become a licensed skin care professional, Illinois requires completion of a licensed esthetics program consisting of 750 hours of training and successfully passing the written and practical examinations for esthetician licensure.

Training hours required from a licensed esthetics school/program: 750

Renewal CEU hours: Estheticians are required to fulfill 10 CEU hours every 2 years, and Instructors are required to fulfill 20 hours every 2 years.

Indiana's rule for eyelash extension specialists stipulates that nonlicensed estheticians and cosmetologists wishing to perform the application of eyelash extensions to the public in Indiana must obtain a certification of training for the application of eyelash extensions from a program recognized by the Indiana Department.

Can I learn Lash Extensions without a class?
