ENROLL IN ESTHETIC SCHOOL: Esthetician licensure in the state of Illinois is regulated by the Illinois Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Hair Braiding, and Nail Technology Board. To become a licensed skin care professional, Illinois requires completion of a licensed esthetics program consisting of 750 hours of training and successfully passing the written and practical examinations for esthetician licensure.

Indiana's rule for eyelash extension specialists stipulates that nonlicensed estheticians and cosmetologists wishing to perform the application of eyelash extensions to the public in Indiana must obtain a certification of training for the application of eyelash extensions from a program recognized by the Indiana Department.
